We celebrate with you the love that God has given to you and your future spouse. We look forward to working with you to plan for your wedding ceremony and prepare for your marriage.
If you wish for the pastor to officiate at a site other than the church building, please remember that the pastor has Sunday morning worship responsibilities. If your destination is more than one hour away from Fisher, only Friday weddings may be scheduled. You will be responsible for the pastor’s travel and lodging expenses, including mileage reimbursement from and to Fisher Lutheran, for the entire trip.
You are invited to attend a Sunday worship service to meet with the pastor and discuss possible wedding dates. Consult our website for worship times.
Please do not finalize any other plans until you have set your wedding date with the pastor and the parish secretary. Non-members of the Fisher Bygland Lutheran Parish must get approval from the church council before a wedding will be scheduled.
Please note our building’s capacity is 174 people in the sanctuary; and 258 in the gathering hall.
Your wedding is one day, your marriage is for the rest of your lives. Preparing for your life together is the first step in a healthy marriage. The State of Minnesota offers a reduced fee marriage license for couples who complete twelve hours of marriage preparation, including an assessment tool and conflict resolution training. You will complete the PREPARE inventory online before meeting with the pastor for four, 2-hour sessions. There is a $35 fee for this inventory, payable by credit or debit card. You will have homework to complete between the sessions.
Words of encouragement from the pastor
And the greatest of these is love…
“The state of marriage is one that requires more virtue and constancy than any other. It is a perpetual exercise of mortification…from the thyme plant, in spite of the bitter nature of it’s juice, you may be able to draw and make the honey of a holy life.” Francis de Sales
We value you as a couple, and are grateful you have chosen Fisher Lutheran to have your ceremony.
“A wedding calls us to our highest and best-in fact, to almost impossible- ideals.” Gary Thomas
Acknowledging this truth, we at Fisher Lutheran are committed to providing the most Christ centered and hospitable environment possible for you and your guests. We hope your wedding day is a ‘day to remember’ in the most life-giving light.
* We invite you to commit to attending worship regularly as a couple.
* We encourage you to invest in the life and mission of Fisher Lutheran through faithful discipleship and service. We promise to pray for you as ‘a part of’ the faithful membership of this faith community. God loves you and so do we!
“Give thanks in all circumstances” 1 Thessalonians 1:4
